Vagabonds led the way as the Isle of Man's three English League rugby teams all made winning starts to the new year. Vagabonds are now up to 10th in South Lancs/Cheshire Division One after a battling 7-3 victory over Ormskirk. The game was finely balanced 0-0 at half-time with a heavy pitch restricting scoring opportunities. But after Ormskirk took the lead with a penalty, Simon Heggs' try, converted by Leigh Kennaugh, earned Vagas the win. Meanwhile in Division Two, Douglas clung on to win 33-29 at Crewe & Nantwich. And, in Division Three, Ramsey retained top spot with a comfortable 39-8 home win over Knutsford at Mooragh Park. Elsewhere, Emerging Nomads and Douglas B both recorded victories in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.
