Rhodri McAtee scored the Pirates' only try |
Cornish Pirates' three-match home winning run came to an end with a narrow defeat by Doncaster on Sunday. After a first half that saw Pirates prop Paul Andrew sin-binned and the visitors miss a penalty, the sides were still level at 0-0 at the break. Andy Wright crossed the line to give Knights the lead, only for the Pirates to hit back through Rob Cook's penalty. Paul Lawrie pushed over to extend Doncaster's lead, with Rhodri McAtee's converted try not enough for the hosts. The result may have been different had Cook found the target with a penalty and Johnny Bentley not fired his drop-goal attempt wide. The Pirates are now sixth in the Championship table, one point behind fifth-placed Bedford.
