Newquay has been chosen to host the finale of the first ever UK National Sevens Rugby Series in July 2010. The new event will double up with the annual Surf 7's tournament which takes place every year in the town. Newquay is one of four venues to host the series which will feature 10 teams from across the UK. The other legs of the competition will be held in London, Manchester and Bath from June, with the finals being held in Newquay on 17 July. Rugby sevens will feature at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro for the first time.
