Island ladies continue to improve

Rugby: Guernsey Ladies v Jersey Banks Ladies
Scott said the match saw a large improvement in the side

Guernsey Ladies rugby captain Daisy Scott was pleased with her sides improved performance despite losing to Jersey Banks Ladies 15-0.

In only their second game, their return fixture on Jersey saw a closer result than the 53-12 loss they suffered on home soil.

Captain Daisy Scott told BBC Guernsey she was proud of all the team, which included six debutants.

"We're looking for a third time lucky win over them, we've improved so much."

Scott added: "The first half was probably a highlight for me, just to see how well the girls defended. Everyone was putting their bodies on the line.

"We weren't letting them anywhere near the line until the last one or two minutes when they got over with a lucky try."

She said Jersey scored early in the second half but they kept their heads up and held them off until another lucky try right at the end of the half.

"Obviously people were disappointed to not put any points on them and not come away with a win," Scott said.

"But when we look at it in hindsight that the girls we are playing have been playing for years, some of them are very experienced, and we're just starting out."
