Norfolk's weekend rugby round-up

Diss were hit by an injury nightmare as they suffered a 26-19 National League 3 defeat at Haywards Heath.

Will Farrer broke his arm, while Chris Beaird, Richard Horne and Matt Richards also suffered serious injuries.

Aside from the string of injuries, the Diss coaching staff felt let down by the performance, which was below par despite scoring 19 points.

North Walsham also lost, their trip to struggling Portsmouth ending in a 19-10 defeat for the Norfolk side.

As a team we really showed what our potential was

Wymondham coach Dave Masdin

Norwich picked up a point in London League 2 North East with a 18-18 draw at Sudbury.

In London League 3 North East, Wymondham earned their second win of the campaign with a superb 17-5 win over Canvey Island.

The Essex visitors were unbeaten, but lost that record as tries from Al Turner and Gavin Shepherd deservedly kick-started Wymondham's season.

"I'm absolutely delighted," said coach Dave Masdin. "We've got some young players there and some older heads who've done really well.

"As a team we really showed what our potential was. We're looking forward to bringing on Lowestoft & Yarmouth next week."

Lowestoft & Yarmouth warmed up well too with a 36-21 win over Wisbech, moving them up to third in the table.

West Norfolk lost 15-13 at Dagenham.
