Tongan lock Talite Vaioleti scored two tries in Jersey's win |
Norfolk's National Three London and South East teams both slipped to heavy defeats on Saturday. League newcomers Diss travelled to Bracknell but suffered a 44-14 defeat at the hands of the Berkshire side. Jersey were visitors to Scottow in North Walsham's second home game of the season, but it was very different to last week's win over Sutton and Epsom. The Channel Islanders punished every Walsham mistake and defended solidly to run out 43-13 winners. North Walsham head coach Dave Smith told BBC Radio Norfolk he thought it could have been a very different game. "We did create a lot of chances and we didn't put them away, but they're a side that likes to play on hard ground, they couldn't have had a better day," he said. "First half we made a lot of errors and didn't get into the game like I thought we should. "I seriously think the score flatters them, although they are a very good side, very powerful, I can't deny that," he added. Both Diss and North Walsham had won their opening games at home the previous weekend, and now face each other in a Norfolk derby at Mackenders on Saturday, 19 September.
