North Walsham's Pena Sokia attempts to break through Sutton and Epsom |
Diss and North Walsham began the season with victories in their opening games of the National League Three campaign. Walsham beat Sutton and Epson 22-15 at Scottow, while Diss won 14-13 against Tring at Mackenders in their first game ever at this level. Diss captain Adam Williamson told BBC Radio Norfolk he was not surprised to be given such a tough test. "They're a solid, seasoned team in this league, a challenge, we were looking for a reaction and got it," he said. Diss led 7-3 at half-time in their game, but Williamson admitted they should have taken better advantage of a sin-binning against Tring. "They went down to 14 men for a 10-minute spell, we had the territory and possession, it's just a case of turning it into points. "That's got to be our step up and our goal, that when we're controlling games we need to be able to keep the scoreboard ticking over," he added. The two sides meet at Mackenders for a Norfolk derby on Saturday, 19 September.
