The goals finally dried up at Carrow Road as Norwich were held to a goalless draw by hard-working Walsall.
City's opening two league matches had produced 15 goals, with a 7-1 defeat by Colchester followed by a 5-2 victory over Wycombe.
And Norwich defender Michael Nelson did power home a header from Paul McVeigh's corner but referee Russell Booth ruled it out after he spotted some pushing.
City's Simon Lappin and Cody McDonald also went close but could not finish.
Norwich manager Paul Lambert told BBC Radio Norfolk:
"It was a tough game, there's no doubt it was a hard, hard game, but since we've been here we've taken seven points from nine which is not too bad.
"The expectance is on us to win every [home] game because of the crowd, but if you're here you've got to be able to handle that.
"It might just be a big point, you'll have to wait and see."
