Cambridge forwards coach Bob Crooks believes they can reproduce their impressive form of last season.

Cambridge won every single match in the second half of their last campaign but suffered their first defeat of this season at Tynedale on Saturday.

Crooks told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "The new players need time to bed in and understand our game.

"We'll click as a team at some point and then it will be like the second half of the last season."

Cambridge are currently fourth in the National One table behind Esher, Wharfdale and Launceston.

"Saturday was a hiccup, but we had accepted there would be defeats early in the season," Crooks said.

"If you can ever not mind losing then Tynedale are the sort of opponents you don't mind losing to."

Cambridge host Blackheath at West's Renault Park on Saturday, looking to protect their 100% home record.

"There was so much last season about how good the Blackheath pack were that we just want to teach them a lesson really," Crooks said.
