Day ready for Peterborough return

Peterborough United defender Jamie Day has said he is ready to return to action after another injury setback.

The 24-year-old, who missed the whole of last season after back surgery, suffered a deep gash to his ankle in the recent match against Plymouth.

Day told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "I've had some rotten luck, but the big positive is that it could have been a lot worse than it was.

"Hopefully I can be back for the Bristol City game."

Posh have suffered a dismal start to their Championship campaign with just seven points from their 11 matches so far, but Day believes an upturn in fortunes is just around the corner.

"Everybody knows we're in a position that we shouldn't be with what we've got in the dressing room," he said.

"The league table doesn't lie though, and we know we've got to start picking up points."

Posh travel to Ashton Gate a week on Saturday after the international break.
