Harvey is happy with Jersey's squad |
Jersey begin their National Three season with a tough clash with title favourite Bracknell in Berkshire. Head coach Ben Harvey told BBC Radio Jersey: "They've come down a couple of leagues over the past few seasons. "But they've now consolidated and are looking to go back up. They're a tough side and it's not an easy place to go. "And any side that has National League experience know what it takes to grind out victories; they'll be very tough opponents." Jersey go into the first round of the new season with great form after three easy warm-up wins, culminating with the 73-0 thumping of French side Rennes last weekend. | We're very lucky that a couple have joined us from off-island but more importantly we've got more youngsters coming though Jersey head coach Ben Harvey |
The only downside of the match were injuries to Michael Le Bourgeois and Ross Allen, but Harvey is realistic about the loss of players. "We've got a couple of injuries which is par for the course at any time of year and we're very hopeful. I'm sure the boys running out are going to do everything they can to start the season off with a win." The new season sees more matches than in the past seasons and the depth of the squad is going to be an important factor. "We do feel as though we've got depth in the squad, we've improved the squad right across the board," Harvey said. "We're very lucky that a couple have joined us from off-island but more importantly we've got more youngsters coming though."
