Newlyn Rugby Club are hoping to create a 'Pirates Amateurs' team by 2010. Cornish Pirates have sent letters to the Rugby Football Union requesting approval of plans for a new team in West Cornwall. The 'Pirates Amateurs' team would be specifically aimed at developing young rugby players in their area. If approved the new team would play their home games at the Mennaye Field and adopt the historic red, black, and white hooped colours of the Pirates.
