Exeter University's women's team won the European Student sevens title after beating French side Lille in the final.

Tries from Kat McGonigle, Helen Kukor, Gemma Rowland, Okite Ahewehevu and Jenna Waddy helped the Devon side to a 29-24 win over the French students.

Coach Mark Tomlinson said: "Our success was built on solid defence, great commitment, high fitness levels and that the players enjoy their rugby."

Exeter's Rowland was the tournament's top scorer with 36 points.
