Devon released their grip on the MCCA Trophy on Sunday with a defeat in the quarter-finals by Staffordshire. Devon batted first but were bowled out for 131, Rob Holman top scoring for the visitors with 54. In reply Staffordshire reached the target in the 34th over for the loss of only five wickets, helped by an unbeaten 32 from captain Paul Goodwin. Devon won the Trophy in 2008, beating Berkshire in a thrilling final showdown at Lord's.
