Leeds Carnegie want to bring in eight new players for their assault on the Guinness Premiership next season.

Leeds have already signed Leicester's Marco Wentzel and an un-named Premiership forward and are expected to release around seven players.

"If we get what we want and the board support us in that we are looking at as many as eight new boys," director of rugby Andy Key told BBC Radio Leeds.

"We hope to sort out the new signings within the next few weeks."

Leeds rounded off their National League One campaign with a 17-6 win at Plymouth Albion on Saturday.

The victory saw the West Yorkshire side finish top with 133 points, 14 points clear of second-placed Exeter.

Key added: "We have signed two and are strongly talking to another four currently.

"We hope we will sort out those four players fairly quickly."
