Guernsey beat Bognor in their last league game of the season |
Guernsey ended their injury-blighted season in London Three South West with a 36-8 win over Bognor at Footes Lane on Saturday. Guernsey's tries came from Nick Barton, Jay Batiste, Blair Campbell, Jim Elliott, Cameron Patton and player-coach Jordan Reynolds. "It was a bit tight at the start but we got away with a decent try... and took them apart slowly," said Reynolds. The result sees them finish mid-table in seventh, one point behind Bognor. Whilst a good result, Reynolds said they could have done more: "I definitely think it could have been a 60-point margin and we let ourselves down on a few tries but that's rugby." As for their final league position Reynolds said injury had been the biggest problem: "We were stuck with a lot of major injuries to key players. "We had to rely on bringing through a lot of youth." But he was content with seventh: "Let's be honest, we're away from relegation and we were probably never going to get promotion after we'd stuck a few injuries at the start of the year. "All in all you've got to take the results as they come and a mid-table result is better than anything, we've got to be humble in that and say we'll have to build on that for next year."
