FRM Mens won the Men's Fours class |
It has been confirmed that five new record times were set by Guernsey's rowers in the first race of the season. Thirty boats took part in the 3300m sprint across Belle Greve Bay at the weekend. It was the largest number of boats seen on local waters for some years and the northerly breeze meant records were there for the taking. The sole woman competitor Margi Jorgensen took the ladies' singles record, and Paul Montague the men's. Second in the men's singles class was Neil Brennan, followed by Karl Guille. In the pairs class, Wheeler Development took the ladies trophy, Steve Pipe and Liz Bellot the mixed pairs, and Joe Paul and Paul Issacs the men's. The ladies' four was won by 2008 champions Sydney Charles, and the men's by the FRM crew.
