Moseley have gained permission to stretch their National One season into May after the Rugby Football Union's competitions panel upheld their appeal. The RFU ruled that First Division Rugby breached their own rules by insisting that Moseley played midweek matches. The Billesley Common club have a backlog of three games because of bad weather and their National Trophy run. They still have the prospect of one midweek game against Plymouth on 28 April if the Devon club agree to it. Moseley are facing up to a battle for survival with five teams being relegated from the 16-team division. They currently lie 12th, just inside the drop zone, but with games in hand over their nearest rivals Esher, Rotherham and Coventry. The club were frustrated that they could effectively be penalised for their success in the Trophy, which has seen them qualify to take on the National One leaders Leeds Carnegie at Twickenham in the final on 18 April.
