Ridgewell wants to avoid hype

Liam Ridgewell is telling his Birmingham City team-mates not to get caught up in the hype surrounding the match with Wolves on Monday night.

Wolves have a five-point advantage over Blues at the top of the Championship and Ridgewell is keen to narrow the deficit to just two points with a win.

But he told BBC WM: "We've got to take it as another game in the Championship, looking to get three points.

"If you get hyped up, then it gets away from you."

Ridgewell is also hoping that the Birmingham fans will make their mark in a positive manner having voiced their frustrations on several occasions this season.

"Obviously you're hoping to get a full house, there's singing going on and all sorts and I think that makes it a big game and the players feel the buzz off that," added Ridgewell.

"It gets them going, so hopefully we can get a big crowd and get the crowd behind us."
