Ollie Thomas kicked three penalties but Moseley still came up well short |
Moseley's relegation fears have increased after a 41-17 loss at Doncaster saw them fall back into the National One danger zone. The visitors failed to make the most of having a blustery wind at their backs in the first half, leading only 12-11 at the interval. Three penalties from Ollie Thomas and a Richard Vasey drop goal were soon cancelled out by a rampant Doncaster. A late score for Adam Whitney was slim consolation for Moseley. Worse still, relegation rivals Esher and Rotherham both overhauled Mose with vital victories, while Coventry further distanced themselves from the battle at the bottom with a win at Otley. Moseley do have at least two games in hand over their main competitors fighting to avoid the drop. But, with a serious fixture backlog and a trip to Twickenham coming up in April, no-one is taking anything for granted at Billesley Common. Mose's next game is at home to Leeds Carnegie this Saturday (4 April, 1500 BST). And that will be a dress rehearsal for the EDF Energy National Trophy Final against Leeds at Twickenham (18 April, 1200 BST).
