Schmid 'immensely proud' of side

Esher RFC

Esher director of rugby Mike Schmid was delighted with the crucial 40-19 win over Rotherham Titans to move just five points adrift of safety.

The Surrey side, struggling in National One, were 30-5 ahead at half-time in a match they dominated.

Schmid told BBC Southern Counties Radio: "The boys are playing with immense confidence and we took the game away from them from kick-off.

"We were a gear above them, I am immensely proud of the boys."

Esher now prepare to face the side directly above them in the league table, Moseley.

Schmid said: "We know we've got eight games left and we've still probably got to win half of those to stay in this division which we're fully capable of.

"Next week is one of many now, it would go a long way to help us if we can get ourselves notched up in that table closer to 11th position we'll go from strength to strength and we'll be in this league next year.

"We've got a tremendous group of people working with the team and the boys are doing everything we ask at the moment."
