Moseley pair in England triumph

James Rodwell
Rodwell was recalled to the team as a replacement for injured Bristol forward Greg Barden

Moseley forward James Rodwell and winger Dan Norton were part of the England's unexpected triumph over New Zealand in the Wellington Sevens final.

They helped their team upset the hosts, bouncing back from 17-0 down to win 19-17 in dramatic fashion.

Isoa Damudamu crossed for the match clinching try just after the final hooter had been sounded.

Earlier on finals' day England had come from two tries down to beat Fiji 31-10 and eased past Kenya 26-0.

Future Moseley star Alex Warner also enjoyed a successful weekend with the winning penalty in North Midlands' under-20s 13-10 win over Warwickshire.

The defending Midlands champions had been in danger of making a poor start to their group only for Warner to give them the lead three minutes from time at a wintry Dudley Kingswinford.

Meanwhile, Moseley's National League One game at home to Plymouth Albion this weekend has been postponed, with the snow-delayed Trophy tie at Bridgwater and Albion taking precedence and rearranged for Saturday, 14 February.
