Team spirit not affected - Savage

Nottingham winger Andy Savage has insisted the club's financial plight has not affected team morale.

The Green & Whites need to raise 150,000 by May to survive but Savage is adamant the situation is not getting to the playing squad.

"The mood between the players has never changed, we're all mates on and off the pitch," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.

"We spend most of our time together and there are a lot of jokers around, so everyone's keeping each other up."

It was announced on Sunday that 15,000 has already been raised in support of the club, who are facing a potentially desperate financial future following the collapse of a lucrative land deal.

"We went to John Lewis the other day and there was so much support in general as we were walking around"

And Savage was quick to pay tribute to the fans who were at the 33-13 victory over Rotherham.

"Seeing the people come out and support us, [it was] just really good to see them."

He added the players had particularly noticed the enthusiasm for the cause away from the rugby club.

"We went to John Lewis the other day and there was so much support as we were walking around, just people coming to talk to us, it's all really good."
