Vagas ready for home league debut

Rugby

Isle of Man's Vagabonds Ladies will play their first home league game on Saturday against Rossendale Ladies at Glencrutchery Road (1330 BST).

Vagabonds have just joined the English North West Division Two, recently beating Manchester 15-10 in their inaugural match of the season.

Rossendale won their opening match 48-10 win against Northwich.

Vagas will be without full-back Hanna King and prop Taz Schofield, with Cat Beswick taking over at 15.

Sarah Quayle comes back in the side on the wing with another returnee, Gemma Green, adding punch to the back row.

The only other anticipated change is the return of Rachel Beckley, who will start on the bench but is sure to make an impact as the game progresses.

The game has special significance for Vagas players Rachel Purnell and Anne-Marie Rivers, who have played since the team's formation 10 years ago and have been key figures in realising the dream of league status.
