Catrina Beswick scores Vagabonds Ladies first-ever league try |
Vagabonds ran out 15-10 winners over Manchester in the Manx ladies rugby team's first-ever UK league game. Manchester were first to score, breaching the Vagabonds defence for an unconverted try. But Vagabonds, the Isle of Man's only ladies rugby union team, struck back to level it by half-time at 5-5. The second half saw the Manx stretch the Manchester side's defences, captain Fran Hunt taking them into the lead with her second try of the game. But, for the second time, Cat Beswick saw her conversion attempt come back off the post. It was a sterling performance, justifying Vagabonds' league status. 'This was a committed performance from a team that will only get better as the season progresses,' coach Darrin Cook told BBC Isle of Man.
