Guernsey's 1st XV lost their opening game of their London Division Three South West campaign after 28-5 defeat away at Wimbledon on Saturday. The island side were 6-5 down at half-time but the loss of experienced number ten Blair Campbell with a recurring knee injury hit the team hard. Captain Simon Sharrott told BBC Guernsey: "There were too many errors and missed opportunities. "They didn't beat us - we lost the game, which is a shame." The loss of Campbell came at a bad time according to Sharrott: "We were looking quite strong and coming back into the game after a bit of sketchy start when Blair got hit by a late tackle. "Our gameplan went out of the window unfortunately and we were just sort of trying to catch our tails."
