Redruth went second in National League Two after a convincing 35-16 win over division new boys Mounts Bay in the first Cornish derby of the season. Ron Thirlby opened the scoring for Redruth as they moved into a 13-0 lead before Dan Hawkes reduced the deficit. Craig Bonds' try made it 18-3 before the break then Mika Mua got Bay's only try of the game early in the second half to make it 18-13. Paul Thirlby and Mark Richards sealed Redruth's victory with late tries. The result leaves Bay third-from-bottom in the table with one point as they continue to look for their first ever win at National Two level.
