Redruth began their 2008-09 season with a fine win over much-fancied Birmingham & Solihull at the Recreation Ground.

Winger Nathan Pedley scored four of Redruth's five tries as they beat the side who came down from National One.

Mark Richards got Redruth's first score before Pedley got his first to give the Cornishmen a 15-9 half-time lead.

Pedley then scored three tries in 15 second-half minutes to secure the win, although Birmingham did look as though they might fight back at one point.
