Wetherill needed Poland's Kowalski to lose to qualify for the next round |
Torpoint table tennis player David Wetherill has missed out on a chance for the semi-finals at the Paralympics. The 18-year-old, who trains in Plymouth, needed a big win in his final game and a big loss for group leader Miroslaw Kowalski to see him through. He beat Brazil's Carlo Franco Michell 3-0 while Kowalski lost by the same score to Germany's Rainer Schmidt. But Wetherill failed to score enough points in the group to progress any further.
