Exeter Chiefs cruised past Launceston 48-15 in their final warm-up match before the National League campaign.

Former All Black Matt Jess was one of seven Chiefs to score a try at Polson Bridge on Saturday.

In reply former Chief Adam Staniforth kicked two penalties for Launceston with Jon Fabian adding a third.

"When you play opposition that have genuine Premiership aspirations, you will always be tested," said Launceston joint head Jon Hill.

"Three soft scores at the end give the result an uneven look but we kept the scoreboard ticking along and if this was a league game we would have kept in touch."
