Semmens is the latest Mounts Bay player to join Launceston |
Launceston have signed Mounts Bay utility back Jamie Semmens two weeks after luring his brother Darren to Polson Bridge. Semmens, who plays at either centre, full-back or on the wing, was part of the Cornwall side which lost the County Shield final at Twickenham last week. "This is the final back signing of the off-season period," said joint head coach Jon Hill. "He is quick and strong and will give us options," he added. Semmens is the third Mounts Bay player to join Launceston since the end of last season following his brother and winger Chris Morris. The Cornish All Blacks have also announced that they have agreed a new contract with scrum-half Ben Turner for the upcoming season, but have parted company with half-back Mark Scrivener. "Mark has been a great servant to the club, both on and off the field," said Hill. "We are disappointed to have lost him and fully understand his reasons, as at 26 he needs more assurances over guaranteed game time which unfortunately we are not able to give him. Launceston begin their pre-season on Thursday 3 July.
