Albion unveil new prop Tideswell

Plymouth Albion

Plymouth Albion have signed prop James Tideswell from National Two side Stourbridge for the 2008-09 campaign.

Tideswell is the club's third signing this summer as chairman of rugby Graham Dawe looks to re-build his squad.

The 24-year-old is a product of Gloucester's youth academy and played in their lower sides before joining the West Midlands club.

He joins Nottingham's Ryan Hopkins and the Launceston's Wayne Sprangle as new arrivals at the Brickfields.

Dawe is expected to announce further signings in the coming weeks as he looks to re-shape a squad which has seen many of his star players leave.

Last season's captain Tom Hayes has moved to the Exeter Chiefs, as has popular winger Nic Sesteret and Ed Lewsey.

Number eight Jannie Bornman has gone back to South Africa after his move to the Cornish Pirates fell through.

But Ben Gulliver did transfer to the Penzance-based club, while centre and goal kicker Brad Davies has joined the Bedford Blues.
