Cornwall are aiming for promotion back to county rugby's top flight when they host the Eastern Counties on Saturday. The eastern side are two points clear at the top of the table, but Cornwall have a superior points difference after smashing Oxfordshire 66-8. The Cornish will want to bounce back from their 31-26 loss at Hertfordshire. "We have got to improve for this weekend's match because we can't afford to make mistakes like that again," said head coach Dave Thomas. Noisy crowd If Cornwall win, Hertfordshire would have to win by 58 points more than they do in order to take the title. Eastern Counties boss Nick Greenhall said Cornwall were the favourites for victory but added his side had a good chance of causing an upset. "About two thirds of our squad have been down to Cornwall before with their club sides so they know what to expect from what is bound to be a noisy home crowd," he said. The winners will also book themselves a place at Twickenham in the final of the County Shield against the northern section winners, either Northumberland or the North Midlands.
