Cornish Pirates have revealed three new signings, but the announcement comes at the same time as news that current captain Tim Cowley is leaving. The trio are former Bristol players, flanker Chris Morgan and utility back Tom Luke, along with Fiji international Marika Vakacegu. Cowley will join French premiership side Bourgoin at the end of the season. "He has been a great player for the club," Pirates chief executive Rod Coward said. "His performances have been outstanding , particularly so this season." Of the new signings Coward said: "All three are excellent players who will bring strength and skill to our squad next season. Our expectations of all three are high and I'm confident we will not be disappointed." Flanker Chris Morgan returns to the Pirates from Newbury (Getty) |
Chris Morgan is well known to the Cornish side as the 26-year-old was loaned to the Pirates from Bristol two seasons ago. The 6'2'' flanker comes to Camborne from Newbury Blues. Utility back Tom Luke, 24, joins from Doncaster Knights where he's been a regular since signing for them from Irish side UL Bohs last year. "I've signed for the Cornish Pirates primarily because of their competitive history, plus their ambition and quality," he said. Marika Vakacegu, 26, has spent most of this season for Birmingham & Solihull where he has played on the wing or full-back and has played at fly-half for Fiji.
