England's Dan Scarbrough touches down against Scotland
Scotland's defence could not stop Dan Scarbrough scoring for England
Defending champions England eased into the quarter-finals of the Hong Kong Sevens with straightforward victories over Scotland and Georgia.

England beat Scotland 36-12 with tries from Dan Scarbrough, Peter Richards, Ben Gollings, Simon Amor, Richard Haughton and Geoff Appleford.

"It was a scrappy game as one or two of the new boys took time to settle," said team manager John Elliott.

And the side outclassed minnows Georgia 42-0 for their third Pool B win.

England thrashed China 49-0 on day one, but main rivals New Zealand have also made a convincing start with a 38-7 win over the US, to follow up their opening day victory over Japan.

Justin Wilson was in superb form for New Zealand, scoring a hat-trick and two conversions.

New Zealand's final group game is against Italy.

In other Saturday matches, Australia destroyed Taiwan 68-0 while Fiji beat Hong Kong 31-0 without ever producing their best form. South Africa powered past the Cook Islands 45-12.

The Hong Kong Sevens is the fifth event of the 2004 IRB World Sevens Series.
