Michael Monaghan wants Warrington Wolves consistency
Monaghan joined Warrington from Manly Sea Eagles in 2008
Warrington hooker Michael Monaghan says his side will search for consistency this season as they aim to build on last season's Challenge Cup success.
"This season is pretty much about consistency and getting to the level of the top teams," Monaghan, 29, told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"Whilst we won the cup last year, and that was a good achievement for us, we were inconsistent.
"We certainly didn't play the type of football that we wanted to."
He added: "There were two trophies on offer last year and we won one of them. That does give you a little bit of confidence.
"This year if we can improve in those areas and be a real consistent team then we're going to be really dangerous."
Despite lifting the Challenge Cup at Wembley last season, Warrington finished a disappointing 10th in the Super League, missing out on the play-offs.
And the Australian says the team have no excuses for not doing better this season, insisting they are good enough to compete.
"When we won the cup and then not to even be in the play-offs a few weeks later was a bit of a come down from the celebration of the cup," Monaghan continued.
"It was a realisation we let ourselves down last year. So this year we are really focused on making the most of our opportunities.
"With the squad we've got and the coach we've got there are no excuses. It comes down to our own preparation and we do what is required to get the job done."
