Warrington Wolves first team coach James Lowes has signed a one-year contract extension as the Super League club shuffle their backroom staff.

Lowes was in charge at the Halliwell Jones Stadium before Tony Smith's arrival in March.

The former Bradford hooker had been linked with a return to the Bulls but will now help the Challenge Cup winners try to improve their league form.

Reserve team coach Richard Marshall will assist with the first team.

In other coaching changes at the Wolves, Chris Baron will join as head of strength and conditioning, while reserve team physio Andrew McDonough will take on a full-time role to assist head physio John Hartley.

Smith, who ended Warrington's long wait for silverware in his first season at the helm, has said he wants to use the off-season to improve the club's off-field operation.

Despite winning the Challenge Cup with a 25-16 win over Huddersfield at Wembley, Warrington's richly talented squad had to settle for 10th place in the Super League table meaning they missed out on the end-of-season play-offs.
