Jason Demetriou started his career in rugby league with Lancashire Lynx |
Wakefield captain Jason Demetriou is looking for a new club for 2011 after revealing that the Wildcats will not offer him a new contract. Demetriou, 34, is currently enjoying a three-month testimonial awarded by the Rugby Football League in recognition of a decade's service to the English game. But the veteran utility man insists he is not yet ready to hang up his boots. "I am really enjoying playing at the moment and feel I can play another season," he told League Weekly. "It would have been nice to stay with Wakefield and finish my career with them, but it's not to be. "I've no hard feelings towards the club. Hopefully, I'll get another Super League club. "I think I have a lot to offer still and to play 10 years of Super League would be something to be proud of." Demetriou, who also hopes to play for Greece in next year's World Cup qualifiers, began his English career with the now defunct Lancashire Lynx in 1999 before moving to Rochdale Hornets. He then played Super League for the first time with Widnes in 2002 and 2003 before moving on to Wakefield, where he has scored 47 tries in 164 appearances.
