Demetriou has represented Greece and Canada in internationals |
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats skipper Jason Demetriou has been granted a testimonial by the Rugby Football League for services to the sport. The Australian centre's testimonial is expected to last three months from May. Wildcats communications and media manager John Huxley said: "Jason has been a model professional for British rugby league." Demetriou, 34, has captained Wildcats for the past four years and in 2007 was nominated for the Man of Steel. During his British career, he has also played for Lancashire Lynx, Rochdale Hornets and Widnes Vikings, clocking up more than 270 appearances in all. Additionally, Demetriou works with the Wildcats Community Department in schools and external programmes. He also took a lead role in the club's response to the untimely deaths of club-mates Adam Watene and Leon Walker.
