Wakefield centre Ryan Atkins has dismissed speculation that he is set to join Hull FC next season.

The England international is under contract for another three years at Belle Vue and insists he wants to stay.

The 23-year-old said: "Obviously I've heard the rumours but I'm happy at Wakefield and I am going to be here for the 2009 season.

"I'm going to be giving 110%. I'll be doing all my extras in training and I won't be leaving."

"I think I let a few people down last year - I started off pretty well and seemed to struggle to find a bit of form towards the end of the year and hopefully I can get back on track this year.

"And I owe it to a lot of the players who have left who gave their all and kept the team afloat last year."

Atkins joined Wakefield from Bradford Bulls midway through the 2006 season after a successful loan period with the Wildcats, scoring a try on his debut against Castleford Tigers.

He's more than happy at Wakefield and very committed to the club as we look to improve next year

Wakefield head coach John Kear on Ryan Atkins
He said: "Everybody knows Wakefield gave me my first chance in Super League and I still don't feel I've fully repaid them.

"I signed a new contract in middle of last year which will keep me at the club until 2011 and I'm definitely not leaving; I'm more than happy at Wakefield."

Head coach John Kear added: "Ryan certainly isn't looking to move to another club; he's more than happy at Wakefield and very committed to the club as we look to improve next year.

"We're happy with the squad we have for the forthcoming season and all speculation about players leaving and such is just causing unnecessary unrest amongst the club."
