Watene opted for Wakefield over Cas |
Wakefield have made their second signing in 24 hours from Bradford Bulls with the capture of prop Adam Watene. The 28-year-old Cook Islander joined the Bulls from Castleford in the close season but featured in only five games.
Castleford had hoped to re-sign Watene, who helped them to promotion, but he has opted to sign to the end of the season with Wakefield instead.
His arrival follows that of team-mate Ryan Atkins, who completed a permament switch on Tuesday after a loan spell.
"Adam is a quality prop forward with good hands and great feet," said Wildcats coach Tony Smith.
"He will further strengthen our front-row options as we head towards the middle of the season."
Atkins, meanwhile, has been on loan at club for the last month, scoring two tries in four games.
The transfer will include an undisclosed fee while Atkins has signed a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2008 season.
"Ryan has taken his opportunity here well, he is a great centre with all the attributes required to become one of the best," Smith added.
Both players go straight into the squad for Friday's game against Salford.
