Josh Perry hopes to make St Helens debut in March

St Helens prop forward Josh Perry says he hopes to make his Saints debut within six weeks, as he recovers from a foot injury.

The 29-year-old, who joined the club from Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL, dislocated his tibia in August.

"I was back running last week so I'm probably a month to six weeks away from playing," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.

"I haven't run on the grass yet, I'm on the treadmill. I'm taking it slowly but I'm getting there."

He added: "I snapped some ligaments and tendons and had to get some screws put in [to repair it].

"It was a pretty serious injury but I'm a couple of weeks ahead of schedule, so I may be back early March."

St Helens open the 2011 Super League season with their derby match against local-rivals Wigan at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday, 12 February.
