New St Helens signing Josh Perry calms injury fears
Perry's agreed to join St Helens from Manly in June
New St Helens signing Josh Perry hopes to return to action before the end of the Australian season despite suffering a dislocated tibia on Saturday.
Perry, 29, who will join Saints next season, suffered the injury in current side Manly's win over Melbourne.
"It looks like I'm only going to be out for two or three weeks, Perry told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"The surgeons have never seen what I have. I've got no ligament or nerve damage. They just levered it back in."
Perry added: "I was in a tackle and I was twisting trying to get someone down to the ground and I dislocated my tibia, just below my knee in my right leg.
"The two surgeons looking at it were convinced that if you dislocate you tibia, you normally break it and you've got to have bolts and plates put in."
Perry also confirmed that Saints have been in touch to quell any fears that the injury could delay the start to his career on Merseyside.
"I got an e-mail from Eamonn McManus [St Helens chairman] to see if I was alright and I let him know that everything's OK," said Perry.
"The poor guys over there have had it pretty rough with injuries this year, but I'll be fine for the start of next season."
