Tranmere defender Marlon Broomes could miss the rest of the season after tearing his medial collateral ligament.
The 33-year-old, who has recently submitted a transfer request, suffered the setback in Rovers' 2-0 victory over Southampton last Saturday.
"It looks like Marlon will be out for the rest of the season," said manager Les Parry.
"He might well get back just before the end, but the surgeon is talking about three months."
