Wilkin will miss England's game with France on Saturday |
St Helens second rower Jon Wilkin says he hopes to return to action within the next four weeks. The 26-year-old has been out since April after having surgery in a bid to cure a persistent shoulder problem. "I've been out for six weeks and hope to be back in another four," Wilkin told the BBC's Super League Show. "It's very frustrating to be on the sidelines, although it's also useful in letting me take a different look at the team and the way we play." Wilkin's lay-off has also ruled him out of England's international against France on 12 June. "That makes it more frustrating for me, but it is one of those things," he said. "It's a massive thing to play for your country and I am very keen to play for England. "Hopefully once I get back on to the field and get my form up, I can play for England again sometime in the future. "I have to take the positives out of this, like the chance to freshen up and rest up a bit. "But I'm not a very good watcher at all. It's not very comfortable watching especially when you care about the side so much."
