Harlequins have handed new contracts to winger Jamie O'Callaghan and prop forward Danny Ward. O'Callaghan, 20, who was named young player of the year at The Stoop, has been rewarded by the London club with a three-year package. Ward, 30, who has previously played at Castleford, Hull KR and Leeds, has been handed a new one-year deal. O'Callaghan became the youngest player to feature for Quins in the Super League in June 2008, aged just 17. "With John Wells retiring I knew I had a chance of getting a few games which I did, so I was pleased about that," said O'Callaghan. "The more you play, the more confident you become and you really get into it. "I've played full-back at reserve grade but it takes a lot of experience and knowledge of the game to play there. "Maybe it's something for the future but at the moment I just want to be a strong winger." Dewsbury-born front rower Ward joined the club in 2007 and has become a cornerstone of the Londoners' pack, featuring 26 times in this season's Super League campaign. "I have spent three years in London and I can honestly say I haven't been happier at any other club," he added. "The lads and staff are all great and I am happy we have agreed my contract. "I wasn't looking to leave and am looking forward to cracking on with pre-season."
