Dorn is in his sixth season of rugby league in England |
Harlequins stand-off Luke Dorn insists that last week's stunning 38-26 win at leaders Wigan was no fluke and that they are capable of building on it. "We've used Friday's result as affirmation of what we are trying to achieve," said Dorn ahead of Saturday's Murrayfield meeting with Hull. "That performance had been coming for a couple of weeks and proved to everyone what we've been doing is working. "Friday night was one of the best moments of my career." He added: "We've all been saying from the start of the year that we are capable of beating anyone. "But we weren't doing the things we knew we were good at or sticking to the game-plan. "The wake-up-call came against Hull KR on Easter Monday. | I'm looking forward to the experience and enjoying the moment in front of the crowd at one of the best stadiums in the UK Harlequins stand-off Luke Dorn |
"That was a real low point but we have knuckled down and are starting to see the benefits." The other major factor has been the return of 27-year-old Australian Dorn to the team after missing the first two months of the season following shoulder surgery. After helping his side to a 23-16 Challenge Cup fourth round win over Wakefield on his return, Dorn ran in two of Quins' five second-half tries. "To face that score at half time and go back out in front of a huge crowd and win was awesome," he said. Quins, who still lie just one off the bottom after only their second win of the season, now take on a tough test at Murrayfield against a Hull side in sixth place. Hull ran in five tries to win 28-4 when the two sides met back in late February at the KC Stadium, but Dorn is confident of revenge. "The last time we played Hull was probably at the peak of our injuries," he commented. "We are now definitely a more focused, better drilled team. "We have to take Friday's win at Wigan as a nice little bonus and try and turn Hull over. We owe them one for beating us earlier. "I love Edinburgh and I think the Magic Weekend is a great concept. "I'm looking forward to the experience and enjoying the moment in front of the crowd at one of the best stadiums in the UK."
