Sharp is delighted with the progress he has made at Harlequins |
Harlequins winger Will Sharp is excited about committing his future to the club after signing a new one-year contract at the Stoop. The Harlequins academy graduate has become a regular fixture since his first-team debut last season. Sharp, 23, told the club's website:"The progress I've made since coming to Harlequins has been fantastic. "I'm really pleased that I can remain here with the coaches and players that have brought the best out of me." He added: "The club has built a strong core of players that have been here several years and are committed for several more, which says a great deal about our ambitions and potential." Sharp joins team-mates Rob Purdham, David Howell, Chris Melling and Chad Randall in signing contract extensions. Harlequins RL head coach Brian McDermott believes Sharp has the potential to reach the top of the game. "Will is a class young player and another product of the Harlequins youth system. He has the rare quality of being very fast and strong, able to match many forwards, and I'm very pleased that he wants to stay with us," he said. "He'll feel himself a bit unfortunate that he's not been named in the England set up. However, with the drive and ambition Will has, I've no doubt he'll be in strong contention for the Four Nations later this year."
