Charnley scored his first try for Rovers against local rivals Hull FC |
Hull Kingston Rovers are hoping to extend centre Josh Charnley's loan spell to the end of the season. Robins coach Justin Morgan wants to keep the 20-year-old Wigan player at Craven Park after learning that Kris Welham will be out for the season. Welham had shoulder surgery last Friday and Morgan believes Charnley is an ideal replacement. Morgan told BBC Radio Humberside: "Josh has been good for us and I think there'll be huge benefits for Wigan." Morgan said he would be talking to Warriors coach Michael McGuire this week about Charnley's future. "That will be the topic of the conversation, but he's not my player and I'm not sure what the objectives of Wigan are. I don't know what the polices are that they set out at the beginning of the year with all their players." Charnley scored his first try for Hull KR during the Derby defeat at Hull FC, but has been impressive since his arrival, and Morgan believes staying at Craven Park would be good for the player.
