Vella joined the Robins from Parramatta in 2007 |
Hull Kingston Rovers captain Mick Vella is expecting to return, after a month out with a knee injury, against Celtic Crusaders on Saturday. Vella, 29, has suffered an injury-hit season so far this year having suffered a similar problem at Bradford on the opening day. "I've tested it out this week and it's come through with flying colours," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "It's a huge relief after missing 17 or 18 games this year". Vella's contribution has been sorely missed in recent weeks as the Robins have suffered three consecutive defeats, including last Friday's 40-10 reverse at home to Harlequins. However, the former Australian Test star admits it has been a frustrating time. "It's my worst year in terms of injuries," he said. "So I've got to try and get back out there and finish the year off strongly".
